I saw grevillea plant first when travelled around Australia and I immediately fell in love with the texture of it. I wanted to capture the colours of this particular species in a loose style to keep it fresh and not overworked. My aim was to feature its layers by showing it contrasted against black background. I painted it on a reflection of 2020 year, a year I’m turning 40. It’s a metaphore of a mature female who has many layers and many experiences under her belt.
